Our bosses are far more likely to listen to us if they know we have the support of their customers - our local readers and advertisers.
With that in mind, here are some ways you can show your support for what we are doing:
- Like our Facebook page.
- Follow us on Twitter.
- Sign our petition.
- Download one of our posters and display it prominently in your window or workplace - click here to download.
- Take a picture of the poster, or your own message of support, and upload it to our Flickr group.
- Come along in person to show your support at Argus House in Crowhurst Road, Hollingbury, Brighton.
- Comment on this blog.
- Spread the word.
This is really helpful and well organised.
ReplyDeleteI have promoted it to my friends and hope you get more and more support. Well done and good luck. Susi.
I totally support the strikers today. Whether you like The Argus or not, we need to get behind our local journalists and make sure that our community gets a paper it deserves - with local knowledge and experience at the heart of it. Sub-editors in Southampton just can't deliver that.
ReplyDeleteDon't let the money-making machine that is Newsquest get rid of all that is still good about The Argus. Keep The Argus local!
Solidarity from an NUj member in Essex! You are leading the way and I hope that more of us can join you soon! Stay strong.
ReplyDeleteGood luck folks. We've seen similar happen on titles up here in Yorkshire, to the benefit of none except the Gannett shareholders as far as I can see. Local newspapers need the staff to properly do their job of shining a light on what is happening in that area. You have a vital role in democratic accountability - informing, educating and entertaining, as someone once said!
ReplyDeleteSolidarity from a fellow NUJ (and PCS) member facing cuts at my workplace too...
Solidarity from Oxford where fellow Newsquest journalists have also suffered years of fewer people doing more work requiring more skills and all on an open ended pay freeze. The chapel here recently voted to join you and others in balloting for action. We can't stand by and do nothing as local news service are crippled from a lack of investment.
ReplyDeleteGood luck to you
Anna
