  2. I'm sure there must have been typos in the Argus before. Remember it's the management decision which should be criticised rather than the staff. Morale is low in Southampton as well.

  3. That's a good point and there have been tons of typos in The Argues, as it once called itself. It is not a criticism of staff in Southampton when bad management has created this situation.

  4. Such a lot of the regional press is now littered with errors. What's more, 'news values' seem to be based on how quickly you can fill a hole with any old stuff. Dreadful days.

  5. I agree - don't blame the Southampton subs. For a start, what's to say they didn't do it on purpose in protest at their extra workload for no extra pay? If someone made this schoolboy "error" on purpose, then it was a pure genius move.

  6. It's not about one mistake - it's about the loss of local knowledge. Sure, subs are under pressure and mistakes slip in, but NO local sub would have spelt Brighton wrong, even in the most stressful circumstances imaginable.
What does it says to the readers when their local paper can not spell the name of their biggest city correctly? Imagine if the Standard wrote about Lundun in an opening par!!
